Welcome to The Learning Lab

Welcome to The Learning Lab

After 10+ years in learning and development, I've decided it's time to start sharing what I've learned along the way. Welcome to The Learning Lab — a space where I'll explore the intersection of instructional design, emerging technology, and corporate learning.

Why Start a Blog Now?

The L&D industry is moving faster than ever. AI is reshaping how we create and deliver content. Organizations are rethinking what "training" even means. And the professionals in our field are being asked to wear more hats than ever before — designer, technologist, data analyst, strategic advisor.

I've spent my career navigating these shifts, from building training curricula at Sheetz to designing interactive medical education at Geisinger Commonwealth, to leading global initiatives at K&L Gates. Now, leading learning strategy in healthcare, I'm seeing firsthand how the right learning experiences can drive real business outcomes — supporting 100%+ patient growth while scaling teams by 30%.

This blog is my way of processing those experiences out loud, and hopefully, making them useful to others.

What You'll Find Here

I'll be writing across three main themes:

The State of L&D in 2026

Here's what I'm paying attention to right now:

AI isn't replacing us — it's amplifying us. The conversation has shifted from "will AI take our jobs?" to "how do we use AI to do our jobs better?" I've been integrating AI into my workflow for content development, needs analysis, and even building intelligence models for organizational knowledge. The results have been remarkable, and I'll be sharing what works (and what doesn't) in future posts.

Knowledge management is having a moment. Organizations are finally recognizing that institutional knowledge is an asset — one that needs to be captured, protected, and made accessible. Tier 0 self-service strategies, content governance models, and knowledge ecosystems are becoming just as important as the courses we build.

The measurement conversation is maturing. We're moving beyond completion rates and smile sheets. Leaders want to see business impact. Learning analytics, xAPI data, and performance-based metrics are becoming the language of L&D.

The best instructional designers I know aren't just building courses — they're building systems that make organizations smarter over time.

What's Coming Next

In the coming weeks, I'll be diving into topics like AI-enhanced learning workflows, knowledge management fundamentals, and scenario-based eLearning design.

If any of that sounds interesting, stick around. And if there's something specific you'd like me to write about, don't hesitate to reach out.

Let's learn together.
